The Open DMX/USB Widget
USb/DMX widget
A USB to DMX Interface for basic DMX applications

The Open DMX/USB widget is small, cost-effective, single-universe DMX output device that is suitable for use as a basic DMX tester, with LightFactory, and other PC-based lighting control systems.

Originally designed as an 'Open' software project, the source code and a 'kit form' version are available from the Enttec web site Also included on this page is list of software applications that are compatible with this device, and a support FAQ, forum and mailing list.

Because this device relies on your PC's microprocessor to produce DMX, some timing fluctuations may occur. For any professional applications, we strongly recommend the use of the DMXEthergate Mk2 or Datagate.

Windows XP users should note that XP overwrites the driver required for this device with it's own version, which does not support the interface used. Please download the Driver below and run the batch file to fix this problem.

The Widget is also available as part of a control system that includes the LightFactory software package.

The DMX/USB Pro Interface
USB/DMX Pro
The Professional DMX/USB Interface

The DMX/USB Pro is the next logical step following Enttec's enormous success with the Open DMX/USB Widget. Designed with lighting professionals in mind, the DMX/USB Pro offers a host of features that make it the ideal partner to LightFactory , and other PC-based lighting control and visualization systems.

Features
  • Onboard Micro Processor, meaning it doesn't rely on your computer's processor to generate DMX.  This eliminates the timing errors occasionally experienced with the Open DMX/USB Interface
  • 1500V isolation, protecting your computer from any potential power surges through the DMX line
  • Includes an input and an output connector, allowing the interface to act as EITHER a DMX Sender or DMX Receiver, eliminating the need for DMX gender changers. Can also act as a THRU port
  • LED Indicator to show activity on the DMX port – blinks slowly for input, quickly for output
  • RDM (talkback) compatible
  • Internal frame buffering (will work on any PC)
  • Will hold last known state in case of computer failure
  • Will talk at any communications speed, making the DMX USB Pro compatible with most major operating systems (Windows, OSX, Linux)
  • User configurable EEPROM allows you to assign a DMX Universe to the Interface.
  • DMX Refresh Rate, Break, and Mark After Break are all configurable

This interface is also available as part of a control system that includes the LightFactory software package.

The RDM USB Pro
RDM USB Pro
A Professional USB Interface for RDM Applications

The RDM USB Pro is the latest addition to the Enttec DMX/USB range.  The RDM USB Pro Interface incorporates all the features that have made the DMX USB Pro such a popular choice, with the added ability to run Enttec's full suite of RDM software packages.

RDM is the new standard that allows communication between your lights and your console over the existing DMX cabling infrastructure.  For example, an RDM-enabled moving light could send information regarding the lamp hours or operating temperature back to the controller, or have its address set remotely by an RDM-enabled lighting console.

Enttec's RDM Software allows you to use your PC and an RDM USB Pro to detect RDM enabled fixtures, see what features are available and adjust these settings.  You can also view packets being sent & received, enabling diagnosis and monitoring of RDM DMX networks.

RDM Features:

  • Fully conforms to the ESTA ANSI E1.20 (2006) RDM Standard
  • Fully compatible with Enttec's RDM Controller Application
  • Fully compatible with Enttec's RDM Sniffer Application
  • Fully compatible with Enttec's RDM Responder Application
